Here is what I wrote to Gloria Puester who asked me about the program.
gloria, Too bad I saw this too late. Otherwise, I would have taped it for you. Liz is a delightful and bright young lady. While she did not win, she certainly held her own, although she was the youngest competitor (and the prettiest too) and she is a truly enchanting person. Boron, what a treat this was! Thank you for telling us about this. You have every right to be proud of Liz. I was quelling, while I watched. ![]() |

I seriously doubt Margaret meant to write "quelling". Merriam Webster quell transitive verb Etymology: Middle English, to kill, quell, from Old English cwellan to kill; akin to Old High German quellen to torture, kill, quAla torment, Lithuanian gelti to hurt 1 : to thoroughly overwhelm and reduce to submission or passivity <quell a riot> 2 : QUIET, PACIFY <quell fears> --- quell noun Etymology: Middle English, from quellen to kill 1 obsolete : SLAUGHTER --- Methinks Maragret meant the Yiddish... kvell : to burst with pride from the achievements of your loved ones. "My son finally graduated from law school! Oi! I'm kvelling!" ("NYU?" "And why NOT me?") k'velen - Glow with pride and happiness, beam; be delighted Sheldon Kvetching |

Boron, your daughter was a doll & we were tickled when she snuck in
there with correct answer to a cooking question. Thanks for giving us a heads up - it's fun to have someone to root for and she did you proud - especially in the music category. Nancy T |

Yes, I meant I was kvelling, after all, how often do I get the chance to see the child of a friend under such circumstances and I had no idea how the word is spelled. M |

Boron - My guess was correct. Liz was on tonight (Thursday) in SoCal.
Such a bright, poised young woman. Congratulations! (Or should I congratulate *her* for getting your gene pool?) And we should both claim that it's our side of the gene pool that produced 'em.
