Cheese measure, shredded vs whole
I was looking at a recipe for enchiladas at
http://seafood.allrecipes.com/az/Sfdnchilds.asp Under ingredients it calls for 8 oz. Colby cheese. This is the only cheese listed in the recipe. Later it says to add one cup shredded cheese. Finally, it says to add remaining cheese. If 8 oz. cheese does not equal one cup shredded cheese, then what is the ratio shredded/cheese? Thanks in advance, Don |

So if you want a cup of cheese (8 ounces) you should buy 4 ounces of cheese by weight. Two cups of cheese (16 ounces) would require a block of cheese weighing 8 ounces. |
