Of course you can garnish with an olive! Also good- pickled onion,
pickled okra or a personal favorite that I thought was too "out there",
those little pickled corncobs.

How about corncobs with one of those toothpick umbrellas to stick it
into the glass?

A toothpick umbrella is a welcome addition as are those little yellow,
plastic corn cob holders to stab your garnish with.

It's only a mashed potato martini if you pour it into a glass. Leave it
in its skin and it remains a bakedtini.

Okay, if you guys weren't paying attention originally, and if your
sense of humor was temporarily numbed by the loss of a pet, maybe you
might have missed that it was a joke. But after the responses and the
riposte, it still doesn't strike you as funny? Sheesh. -aem

I thought it had to be a joke after all the other martini alterations I've
seen posted. Someone decided to just go that one step further and really
make one sound ridicules. :P

Joke or not, I didn't think it was least bit funny. Considering the source,
I'm not at all surprised.

this actually sounds like a cute idea to me. I'd put "martini" in
quotes, though.

This is twice now that, if we were taking a vote, I'd have to go with
funny. Please, please, don't make people start putting LOL at the end
of every sentence to indicate humor. I hate it when the obvious has to
be made more obvious, and jokes aren't worth much when you have to laugh
at them yourself to make sure everyone knows they've heard the punch line.

I think i'm better now!
It was my therapist's idea to post the baked potato martini recipe.
She said that the best way for me to get over the week-long anxiety
brought on by the "pineapple martini" fiasco was to poke fun at myself
by confronting my fears and exposing myself to even more criticism
through this rediculous post.
She says I should be back to, "pre-pineapple martini post drink mixing
for my friends" by New Years!!

Thanks Doc Lynn!! Kev

I thought the potato martini thing was amusing. Not every joke is
"laugh out loud" funny, nor should they be.

Best regards,
Bob

Perhaps what would make you feel even better is a properly made Gin Martini!

I make "properly made Gin Martini's" quite frequently actually, but my
newbie education has taught me that it would be foolish of me to say
what one is.

It's kinda' like UFO's, Bigfoot or the Lochness Monster- the idea that
they exist is fascinating but you're in for a world of ridicule if you
say they do. Kev

For Wayne's next trick, he will attempt to have his sense

Some people take their martinis *way* too seriously. He posts a
"recipe" for a pineapple martini, and *you* know that isn't a martini,
and *I* know it isn't either. We post our alternative opinions. I'm
done with it. He still wants to call it a martini, I have no problem.
He wants to call it "meatloaf"? I'll call him on it. After that, not
my problem.

So say I go to this guy's house. He wants to serve me a meatloaf.
What's in the meatloaf? Fresh pineapple, vanilla beans and booze.
Aged, so the vanilla beans and pineapple release their flavors. I'll
take two, thanks. Extra pineapple please. I just *love* fresh
pineapple.

Thanks for posting this. I just loved it!

I'm not going to do it, though. If I did, it would be a little
different.

I'm sorry that your feelings were hurt. I really am. Sometimes you
need a little bit of a thick skin when you post to newsgroups. I just
had a little different concept than you did. I expressed what I thought.

i thought it as just a goofy joke, hence the response about it being a MASHED
POTATO martini

(which it is, dammit)

Will try that one. I used to create some Nature’s Select Wild Alaskan Salmon and Sweet Potato. I will definitely try that thing.
