I'm gonna eat those things later today, too. I love 'em!

I missed whatever precipitated this particular conversation,
but I like B.C. potatoes! They're nothing like real potatoes,
which is fine with me (I like both). I do prefer the Julienne
style though...

I love them! I've only had au gratin potatoes that I liked at one
restaurant. Any others I've been served or have cooked myself have
sucked.

Nancy was extremely curious about potatoes in a box (in another
thread). I hope she'll like them, after reading rave reviews from
some of us (heathens) as well as scornful reviews from people who use
real potatoes. (I have yet to make MoM's recipe, but I *will* try
it!)

I have the faux taters in the oven as we speak.

I don't recall the baking time as being only 20 minutes. They seem to
have improved it. The potatoes were tender immediately after being
removed from the oven. I used to have to cook them longer or put up
with chewy potatoes. Now I like this stuff better than ever.

On a similar note, Bulk Barn here has the dried potatoes and the mix
both in bulk so you can buy as you need. Both are a lot cheaper than
the boxed variety. I'd guess they are about a third cheaper and you
don't have to deal with all the extra packaging I found this out
during the y2k scare when I was concerned my stocks of dried foods was
not high enough. The potatoes can be used in soups as well. I make au
grautin and scalloped potatoes from scratch but still keep the dried
potatoes on hand. You never know when you might need them.
