I'm glad it served its purpose.

That's correct, they are not the same. Other than a bit of color
similarity, they are very different. These are navel oranges with
reddish-pink flesh, unlike the very dark red of the blood orange.

I bought and ate my first Cara Cara Oranges today. At $2.99 a pound,
I only purchased two medium sized ones. They cost $3.87, a rather
hefty price for two pieces.

They both had navels and a rather thin skin. The one I ate was
difficult to peel. Inside was a red fleshed fruit with the same kind
of little slices near the navel that regular navel oranges have. It
was more tart than I expected, more like a blood orange than a navel
orange, but it had a nice, orangy flavor. I like it, but I like
regular California navels more.

At this time, I have three kinds of oranges in my kitchen: Mini
Honeybells from Florida, sweet and juicy and only available at this
time of the year; navel oranges from California and the Cara Cara.
They are all good, but I like the Cara Cara the least. I will eat the
second one tomorrow and perhaps change my mind.

The guy at your store is full of malarkey
They are a red navel, no grapefruit in them.
