Surfed a few postings and most seemed pretty straightforward, so here goes:
Why is it that a freshly opened bag of chips seems reasonably free of grease, but after a few days seem to get progressively worse? We live in a pretty dry climate, so I'm pretty sure it's not moisture as such. Thanks in advance, Ace |

I've never really noticed the gets greasier problem, either. Jill |

Or, you have to grasp at the small chips at the bottom more so your fingers get greasy? Sue(tm) Lead me not into temptation... I can find it myself! |

An open bag of potato chips that isn't empty after a few days. Mysterious phenomenon. nancy |

I recall that at least some brands have the bag shot with an inert gas (like carbon dioxide) before sealing it. Helps keep the chips fresher longer. Once the air hits them, they will oxidize and change physical properties. Longer the exposure, the more change. |

No, not frozen. Just any ordinary name brand chip (such as Lays).
There is just the two of us, and we are 'older' so a bag of chips can last a couple of weeks or so???? And by the time we reach the bottom of the bag, they are quite greasy. I realize the chips are packaged using nitrogen to replace oxygen for freshness, and of course this is immediately nullified upon opening.
