I made up this recipe and made these for V-day, glazed and decorated
them. They are to die for! Killer Butter Cookies 8 oz salted butter, softened 1 c. granulated white sugar 1/2 t vanilla extract 1/2 t baking soda 2 1/3 c. flour Cream butter, sugar and vanilla by hand. Stir in soda and the flour 1/4 cup at a time, until incorporated. Chill. Roll out to 1/4 inch thickness, and cut into shapes with cutter. Aternately, roll into balls (smaller than golf ball) and flatten slightly. Squish with fork twice, perpendicular to each other (like you would for a a peanutbutter cookie.) Bake on lightly greased cookie sheet at 325 F for 15 minutes - turning the pan half way though. Check at 12 minutes. Should puff slightly and bown edges slightly. Cool a bit and transfer to cooling rack. Cookies are delicate when warm- handle gently. -L. |
