Hi,
I have a new website which sells sourdough starter, but also has a lot
of free information about
recipes, techniques, and pictures of sourdough bread baked at home. You

can print out the information for free. You may find some techniques to

help you bake sourdough bread. I thankyou for the opportunity to show
off my new site and I hope you can find something useful.

As I replied in the other forum, I deliberately went to the different
forums and posted my invitation to visit my new website. It is aimed at
those that like sourdough. I have posted it all over the internet. If
you want to visit and see my new site please do. If you like what you
see you can print it off for free. If you don't others might. Thankyou

Anyone who send out a message to multiple newsgroups as this person
has, and is offering goods for sale on the site, has a motive other
than pure information. Usenet is not supposed to be used as a sales
medium.

It does not hurt to go to the web pages and I make no judgment about
the quality of the content, but the site sells the poster's product.
The sales angle, as well as the postings to multiple groups classify
this as spam.

There is an excellent free sourdough starter that is available. It is very
reliable and used by many in the sourdough newsgroup where Carl was a member
until his death. The starter is so good that it is currently maintained by
the Friends of Carl and is sent free to anyone who asks.
Here is the link to Carl's Friends free 1847 Oregon Trail sourdough
starter. If you wish, you may include one dollar to cover mailing costs
and supplies, but not necessary.

You might want to lurk at rec.food.sourdough for some help. Dick Adams has
directions for his 'Billowy Bread' that I understand gives excellent
results. I suggest lurking for a while until you get to know when to duck.
They are a fierce group with strong opinions.

Oh yes! They have strong opinion. I have told them I made a sourdough with
honey, but nobody ask me :DDDDD

You are lucky they didn't respond. If you mean making a sourdough starter,
all that is needed is flour and water. The organisms that are necessary are
found in the flour. Using anything other than flour and water to make a
starter is a big topic for scorn, ridicule and abuse. If you mean making a
sourdough bread with some honey or some form of sweetener in the recipe,
they are strongly divided as to whether that is at all appropriate. There
are those that feel that sourdough bread should be only starter, flour and
water. There are others that feel that the starter can be used to make any
kind of bread product you want.

That is why I suggested lurking for a while to find out what topics cause a
feeding frenzy.
