Default Dinner Tonight

I've had a fantastic week on Weight Watchers, so thought I'd add a few carbs
to dinner that I don't usually have.

We had blackened chicken breast, accompanied by a risotto with asparagus
tips, mushrooms, and toasted pine nuts. I bought some sugar-free, fat-free
chocolate meringue kisses for dessert. Having the risotto felt luxurious.

Easy does it now - 3.76# per week -- so I'm glad you treated yourself to
some risotto and are eating healthy.

I'm eating healthier than I have in a long time. Lots of fresh vegetables
and fruits, mostly chicken, a little pork (lean chops), and even less beef,
everthing either grilled or broiled. Some cold boiled shrimp, but no fish.
I detest fish that isn't fried. <g> I've virtually eliminated starch/carb
laden vegetables, but I'm stressing calciferous vegetables. Bread only as
toast with a egg for breakfast. Diet or no diet, I have always hated
packing lunch for work, and I still won't actually make/cook+ anything for
it. I've been Eating WW Smart Ones and Michelina's Lean Gourmet frozen
meals, which average only 5 WW points. Our break room at work is large and
has a commercial fridge and freezer, and several microwaves.

The occasional dish like the risotto is a great treat, and feels very
special.

I really love WW as a diet and way of eating. My only problem with it
is ...to lose the last 5-10 pounds I would like to use I would have to
eat 18points a day (if I remember right) It feels like I am starving -
and that is not something I have experienced on WW before....

Congrats!!! This is very good news...Not too bad at all....

But myself I'm finding the last 25 lbs of the imposed 95 lbs loss order a
very hard and slow thing to do.

Are you familiar with the Core Plan? You are allowed 35 points per week of
non-core foods, and relatively unlimited quantities of all core foods,
which is a rather long list. It might make you feel less starved.

Back in 1979-80 I lost 93 lbs on a diet program very similar to WW. I
found the last 20 or so lbs very slow, but it finally came off.
Unfortunately, over the past 20 odd years I gradually let things get out of
hand and regained most of that. It's definitely more of a challenge now
that I'm 60 years old. I guess the most important thing is to persevere,
regardless of the rate of progress. You're really doing well, so don't be
discouraged. I have found that alternating a week of more severe dieting
with a week of more lenient but controlled dieting to be very effective.

Thanks for asking:
I called Homer Laughlin customer service and told them I had bought 2 bowls
from Amazon.com and amazon had sent me two (1 turquoise and 1 rose) bowls
with white 'bas relief' points inside the bowl. She said she would replace
'them.' I asked her if she wanted me to send an email with the picture (I
only had the rose pic available), which I did. She said they might not have
rose, but would ask the stock and send it to me and asked me if not, would I
prefer another color. Since she didn't mention the turquoise and I only
sent the picture of the rose, I mentioned in another email that the
turquoise bowl was the same, but I never got an answer back; but I'm hoping
they will replace both bowls. If not, I will send a picture of the
turquoise bowl. I don't want to upset the apple cart by being too
demanding. The woman was very decisive, courteous and nice. Maybe she
recognized my WV accent -- tee hee.

OB: (Is this the right abbreviation?)
Am making sour cream waffles (new recipe) the dry and wet ingredients are
waiting to be blended - waiting for DH to pull himself together for
breakfast.

I lost 20# in one year on my own -- but can't get that last 10# off -- it's
been over a year now since then. I lost the weight when DH was away a lot
and I had only myself to look after. When I diet, I'm OK until about 8pm
and then I get the starvation syndrome. Then I drink hot tea (not decaf)
until it's coming out my ears.

I dealt directly with the factory several years ago when I was trying to
fill in some pieces. They were very helpful.

Me Too! Loves them waffles. Had them twice this week, normally
maybe I get a waffle every few years. I drowned them in butter and
syrup, it's really sick, but I do. Swimming.

First waffle was at an IHOP. It was okay, rather an odd color but
tasty enough. They had 4 syrups, original flavored pancake syrup
(something along those lines), pecan maple flavor, strawberry and
blueberry.

The second was at Perkin's, I like that place better all around. Waffle
was good and real maple syrup, or so they said. Plenty of butter.

Filled my waffle quota for a while, can't eat like you're on vacation
all the time.

We laughed about what our waffles would cost if we ate them out - with very
good ingredients, plus a recommended (on rfc) $15 for a regular-sized
bottle of organic syrup - with the below ingredients. Heres for 4
waffles -- I ate 1, DH ate 3.

2 eggs
1 cup sour cream
1/4 cup butter
1 cup buttermilk

1-1/2 cups ap flour
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
3/4 tsp baking soda

The usual instructions. We baked at 5 on our Waffle Iron (Belgian).
Just curious, what do IMOP waffles cost per waffle now-a-days?

Yum! I printed out this one.

IHOP was $6.99, Perkins was maybe $5.80? Around there.
Both big round belgian waffles.

Yeah I cheat too...but only when I reach set weight goals I'm at 197 now
next cheat won't happen till I reach 190. Hopefully before the end of
March I can have a large serving of chicken fried rice or a chinese take
out feast.

What does the sour cream do for the waffle, Dee? I like very crisp waffles
with a very tender interior. Oh, I also prefer regular waffles over the
Belgium style.

Thanks!

So, how's the plan working Wayne?

I've lost 78 lbs but I've been working on it since 2001.

I think the occasional cheat is essential to long-term dieting and weight
loss. For me, it helps me to jump right back on persevere with a
vengeance.

First, they tasted yum-yum good. They WERE crisp outside and tender inside.
I did have to turn up the griddle setting from 4 to 5 for this recipe; even
though they weren't wetter. The first one was a little too soggy.

I owned a regular waffle maker/combo pizelle maker, but I'm not a regular
waffle person, I guess. This one you turn it 180ş after you put it in; I
like that feature; and there is a pan if you put too much in it, it dribbles
into the pan.

I'll keep this recipe. I'll be able to make it _someday_!

My mom had a GE waffle iron from the 1930s with cast iron grids that made
fabulous regular waffles. Guess I got hooked on those. I wish I had never
parted with that waffle iron, although my current one makes very good
waffles. Hers had two separate rectangular grids and lids which made it
very easy to overflow. Mine makes a single 9-inch round waffle. I've
become expert in determining just how much batter to put in without it
running over.

It was easy for me to run over on the last waffle I made this morning.
Being greedy adding just those last two spoonsful put it 'over the top' and
it came flowing out. It does catch the runoff on the pan, but still there
is the slop running down the side of the waffle iron, itself. I should've
thrown it out, but couldn't resist adding it. AAARRRGGHHHH! I hope I've
learned my lesson.

I love the plan, Helen. David and I are both on it. As of yesterday's
weigh-in at WW, I have lost 26.7 lbs since 1/1/06 and David last lost 28.4.
We both alternate weeks on the Flex Plan and the Core Plan.

> I've lost 78 lbs but I've been working on it since 2001.

You've done marvelously! And you have proven that perseverence is the key
to success with it. Congratulations!

Thanks Wayne; It takes time to change your eating habits. I'm still
trying to get it up to 100 lbs.

How are you doing with WW?

I love WW. I've tried other programs, but they either left me sick or not
losing weight. If it weren't for the WW Flex Plan and Core Plan, as well
as the meetings, I don't think I would have bothered trying again.
