Sorry your dinner was so horrible. I wanted to comment that I have a
friend who raises shrimp. My friend raises breeder shrimp, here in
Hawaii, which are sold mainly to Asia.

Here is what he said that has stuck with me. Always order big shrimp
--I know the cost but... At the end of a day at a shrimp farm, the
workers go through the shrimp tanks and harvest all the floating
shrimp. Of course there are many more small ones and that is why small
shrimp cost so much less. They are then frozen and sold. Those are
the small shrimp. As you work your way up the shrimp ladder, you
are getting shrimp that survived longer or were grown to be mature
shrimp and they've made it. The big "jumbo" shrimp which we are so
lucky to have with our friend from time to time, are sold when his
hatchery has too many. In closing, he was saying that not too many
hatcheries raise tiny shrimp purposefully.

Just my $.02
