Gingersnaps

Recipe By amsel in dis Dress

Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method
-------- ------------ --------------------------------
3/4 cup shortening -- or lard
1 cup sugar
1/4 cup molasses
1 large egg
2 teaspoons baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
2 cups flour

Combine ingredients in order given.
* Do not use butter or margarine!

Per Serving (excluding unknown items): 3339 Calories; 161g Fat (42.9%
calories from fat); 32g Protein; 451g Carbohydrate; 9g Dietary Fiber;
187mg Cholesterol; 3146mg Sodium. Exchanges: 12 1/2 Grain(Starch); 1
Lean Meat; 31 1/2 Fat; 17 Other Carbohydrates.

NOTES : One of my all-time favorite comfort foods. My mom and I used
to bake these at the lake. The oven warmed the kitchen on chilly
autumn days, and the fragrance of freshly-baked cookies filled the
whole cabin.

Gingersnaps

3/4 cup shortening -- or lard
1 cup sugar
1/4 cup molasses
1 large egg
2 teaspoons baking soda
1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
2 cups flour

Combine ingredients in order given. * Do not use butter or margarine!
Roll dough into balls the size of a walnut. Dip one side in sugar.
Place dough balls, sugar side up, on ungreased cookie sheet.

Bake 10-12 minutes at 375°F.
