Hey all...
I used to love getting donuts at bakeries that were referred to as butternut donuts (better still, chocolate butternut donuts...yumm) that had a crunchy, tasty coating. What does "butternut" refer to, actual butternuts (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Butternut) or butternut squash or some mutant flavoring? Anyone know? Bueller? I have seen recipes for cakes that use butternut flavoring, but I wanna make sure it's what I have in mind. Some recipe sites seem to imply that flavorings referred to as "Vanilla Butter & Nut Flavoring" are the same as "Butternut Flavoring", but is this true? I wrote to McCormick, no response. If the crunchy donut coatings were actual butternuts, will "Butternut Flavoring" give me a similar taste, if not the crunchy texture? Art |
