Thai Recipes with Pictures
I have updated some pictures to my collection of Thai recipes. Most
interesting is the Yam Goong Dten ("Dancing" Shrimp Salad) I had the other day at Jomtien Beach on the Gulf of Thailand. I really liked the Grapaow Pla (Dried Fish Belly Soup) -- Don't knock it until you try it! I made it at home and it was delicious! Serving it with fresh cilantro and pickled chile/garlic finishes it nicely. More updates to follow, including some really nice pictures of Thai fruits and vegetables at the market. This is a preview -- notice the kaffir limes (to the right of the eggs) and the bag of prik kii nuu behind the limes. I really enjoyed gazing at this stand! http://www.panix.com/~clay/cookbook/...vegetables.jpg And now, the recipes: Bu Neung (Steamed Crabs) http://www.panix.com/~clay/cookbook/...thai+recipe214 Gai Haw Bai Toey (Chicken wrapped in Pandanus Leaf) http://www.panix.com/~clay/cookbook/...thai+recipe220 Gai Yang Isan (Barbequed Chicken) http://www.panix.com/~clay/cookbook/...thai+recipe187 Gluay Tod (Fried Bananas) http://www.panix.com/~clay/cookbook/...thai+recipe239 Grapaow Pla (Dried Fish Belly Soup) http://www.panix.com/~clay/cookbook/...thai+recipe241 Haw Mok Pla (Steamed Curry Fish Custard) http://www.panix.com/~clay/cookbook/...?thai+recipe75 Kaeng Jued Wunsen (Noodle Soup) http://www.panix.com/~clay/cookbook/...?thai+recipe83 Kaeng Kiao Waan Gai (Green Chicken Curry) http://www.panix.com/~clay/cookbook/...thai+recipe130 Kanom Krok (Coconut-Rice Pancakes) http://www.panix.com/~clay/cookbook/...thai+recipe238 Khai Yat Sai (Omelet) http://www.panix.com/~clay/cookbook/...thai+recipe213 Kaeng Kiao Waan Gai (Green Chicken Curry) http://www.panix.com/~clay/cookbook/...thai+recipe130 Kiow Nam (Wonton Soup) http://www.panix.com/~clay/cookbook/...thai+recipe237 Laab Gai (Ground Chicken Salad) http://www.panix.com/~clay/cookbook/...thai+recipe168 Laab Muu (Ground Pork Salad) http://www.panix.com/~clay/cookbook/...thai+recipe175 Naem Sod (Sour Spicy Issan-style Pork) http://www.panix.com/~clay/cookbook/...thai+recipe234 Pad Thai (Stir Fried Noodles) http://www.panix.com/~clay/cookbook/...?thai+recipe59 Pla Meuk Yang (Barbequed Squid) http://www.panix.com/~clay/cookbook/...?thai+recipe50 Sate Muu (Pork Satay) http://www.panix.com/~clay/cookbook/...?thai+recipe21 Tam Lao (Papaya Salad) http://www.panix.com/~clay/cookbook/...thai+recipe125 Thot Man Pla (Fish Cakes) http://www.panix.com/~clay/cookbook/...?thai+recipe16 Tom Yum Taleh (Clear Sour and Spicy Seafood Soup) http://www.panix.com/~clay/cookbook/...thai+recipe110 Tom Yum Goong (Hot and Sour Shrimp Soup) http://www.panix.com/~clay/cookbook/...thai+recipe111 Yam Goong Dten ("Dancing" Shrimp Salad) http://www.panix.com/~clay/cookbook/...thai+recipe245 Yam Neua (Beef Salad) http://www.panix.com/~clay/cookbook/...?thai+recipe25 Yam Muu Yang (Spicy Grilled Pork Salad) http://www.panix.com/~clay/cookbook/...thai+recipe193 Yam Talay (Seafood Salad) http://www.panix.com/~clay/cookbook/...thai+recipe127 Yam Pla Meuk (Spicy Squid Salad) http://www.panix.com/~clay/cookbook/...thai+recipe184 -- Clay Irving > My memory's not as sharp as it used to be. Dinner last night was great! I had the best tom yum gai I ever tasted. It was
home-cooked in a small village in Thailand. Tom Yum Gai (Hot and Sour Chicken Soup) http://www.panix.com/~clay/cookbook/...thai+recipe109 We also had a couple of fried fresh-water fish served with a nam jim: Nam Jim Kiga (Chili Sauce or Dip for Barbeque-style Foods) http://www.panix.com/~clay/cookbook/...thai+recipe106 Add a few large bottles of cold Leo beer -- I was saibai-saibai. -- Clay Irving > My memory's not as sharp as it used to be. I have never had it or made it with tomatoes, but am willing to try. Thanks for posting. I think the broth that went into this was a good part of the wonderful taste you describe. I guess it is time to make some stock again and give this a whirl. I have the dried peppers from last year's garden, some galangal growing indoors and a keffir limein a pot. Hard to get fresh lemon grass around here this time of year, but there is a market or two I can seek out. I grow it in the summer. > >We also had a couple of fried fresh-water fish served with a nam jim: > > Nam Jim Kiga (Chili Sauce or Dip for Barbeque-style Foods) > http://www.panix.com/~clay/cookbook/...thai+recipe106 That looks good, too. > >Add a few large bottles of cold Leo beer -- I was saibai-saibai.
