Default ORANGE/SAN DIEGO COOK-IN

Just a reminder that there is only one month until the cook-in! It is a
combined Orange County/San Diego County cook-in this year. It will be at
Terry Pulliam-Burd's place in Laguna Niguel. It will start at 1:00 p.m. on
Saturday June 10th.

You are ALL invited to attend with welcomes. Just let me know if you would
like to attend and I will put you on the "List". If you have questions about
how our cook-ins work please email me and I'd be happy to answer any
questions you may have. We would also welcome your spouce/sig. other/older
children/friends etc. I say older children as the younger ones don't really
seem to work. We eat and drink....a lot. We also gossip and bash those who
are not there with great enthusiasm and good humor. We carry on the
tradition of being "mean" to each other. My personal most-active-abusers
Jamie Utter and Kay Hartman are unable to attend this year and I need some
others to put me in my place. Terry and Christine are too sweet to do it.

Please do consider coming. We have room for a big group and this is your
chance to put faces to names. Putting it in a personal way, I have met
scores of r.f.c.'ers over the years at cook-ins. Many of them have become
lifelong friends. People who care about me and I care about them. This may
be the last or one of the last cook-ins, at least at the famous West Coast
Party Style Cook-Ins. They are not as well attended as they used to be. It
is a wonderful tradition and I would like to see it continue.

I'd like to thank Terry and her husband for opening their home to us. It
will be fun! We will drink a lot of booze! Eat lots of Food! Get a sun tan!
Get tipsy!

Uncle Charlie,
the one who isn't mentioned in polite society

Oh, I know, Charlie. I would like to see them continue as well, even
though I am not able to get to them all....

That being said, I am going to try to continue the tradition when I
settle here in NM...probably going to try to have a cook-in here in NM
next year...

Did you invite Mimi? I am sure she could continue the tradition of
abusing you...

I do not. There are r.f.c'ers who live there or nearby. Someone who shares
my last name used to live there.....I don't know if he still does.

That sounds like a good idea! Those Arizona people (Rita excepted) who are
afraid to come to SoCal might have enough backbone to travel N.M! I'd like
to visit there too!

You can but try. I may be shy but I am a tough old bird. Terry and I have
discussed a couple of cocktails that will certainly loosen your smart ass
mouth!

I did indeed invite Mimi. The last time I heard from her she wasn't feeling
well. I will write again to check on them. Laguna Niguel is closer to her
than Poway was. Oodly the last time we were at a cook-in together, Mimi was
very nice to me. Must have been a bad day for her! I gotta bug Dimitri again
too!

Charlie, who doesn't run.

No worries. Kent Gifford is a skydiving buddy of mine.
He and Cynthia are Mormons. Lovely people.
I'll try and chase him up somehow.

Although Kent is not a family name, he is probably distantly related. There
is a branch of my family who are Mormons. They aren't closely related
though. The most closely related Giffords to me are on the East Coast.

Thanks for the information Peter. Kent is not the Gifford I knew of in
Oceanside. Interesting!

Thanks Christine! I've never eaten New Mexican food before. It is a cuisine
all it's own.

She is indeed attending! I agree that she has a bit of elfin deviltry to
her, or perhaps of mischevious sprite. We have some new rfc'ers attending
this year as well! From what I have been told privately, we are in for some
Excellent food Dude! <dude being unisexual> A most Excellent Adventure
awaites Christine!

I didn't get to meet Kents family when I was there (I think they may be
East Coast), but I got to meet some of Cynthias when we took her for a
Tandem skydive at Otay.

What a view from 12,000' that place is!! You can almost *see* all the
runners coming over the border :-)
