I've done the tax returns and see a DIFFERENT SSN on the W-2 than what the employee presented to me when I started the tax return. When asked, he said that the employer filled out the paperwork, he just signed and started working. Yes, a BIG business must SEE a physical SSN card, and get a signed i9 form with picture id. They will be MORe certain that the person is eligible for employment. |

So what you are saying is that there were illegals immigrants that you did tax returns for, and they were paying Income Tax and Social Security tax, and I'll add that if they don't use their own SSNumber, they pay in to SSecurity but can't collect later. Free money for US citizens and legal immigrants. > >Yes, a BIG business must SEE a physical SSN card, and get a signed i9 >form with picture id. If there are 11 million illegal immigrants who have entered over the last 20 or 30 years, that's a lot fewer than the number of LEGAL immigrants which is about a million a year, and has been for the last 100 years, except maybe not during 4 years of wwwii. |

For the long term residents of the USA, excluding the recent immigrants- legal or not, the live birth rate is hovering very very close to equilibrium. There is no population explosion in the USA!!! In the most recent statistics I saw, live births of all races, excluding immigration, grew the population by only 1.6M. That's about 0.5% growth, and it wiggles around somewhat from year to year. Teen pregnancies are at record lows, women are waiting longer and longer to have children. So the only real growth in US population is immigration legal and not. The story is repeated over and over again in the G-7 nations. http://www.photius.com/wfb1999/ranki..._growth_0.html This link shows overall growth rates including immigration Economic factors will eventually limit growth as people get more and more worried about how to PAY for their children's food, clothes, education, medical needs, and entertainment. |

Who do you think builds the multi-million dollar homes inhabitated by the executives of these companies. The whole construction industry has been gutted by illegals. The current average wage of construction workers is now roughly the same, or in many cases lower, than it was 30 yrs ago. This because of illegals. Has the price of housing remained the same? Hell no. It's gone through the freakin' roof! Are you saying the housing construction industry is not big business? Other big businesses are no different. What happened to the Big 3 auto worker jobs. Went to Mexico. Food processing like canneries, frozen food processing, the meat industry ...all were once jobs paying a living wage. Now all busted by illegals. Whole towns overrun by illegals working in food processing plants. Young kids out of school and just entering the job market used to work in restaurants and fast food chains. Now all illegals. I worked as a janitor when I came out of the service. No shame in that. Not a job I, a white native born American, was unwilling to do. Allowed me to go to school and work part time. Now, they won't even talk to you if you don't speak Spanish. This whole line of crap about illegals taking "jobs American workers are unwilling to do" is the single biggest lie in politics. Illegals have taken the jobs *WE WERE DOING*!!! ...right out from under us. By the way, have any of these illegals joined the service to defend this country? Hell, no! They can't because they're here illegally!! Leave it to the poor slobs that were born here and will return from the war to find their jobs gone, their positions taken by illegals. It's not only a shame, it's a crime. That's why they are called illegal aliens. Pay attention, people. This isn't a lie: http://www.snopes.com/politics/soapbox/borderpatrol.asp Anyone who thinks this it bullshit, think back to before the major illegal alien demonstrations of May 1st. In all the little minor illegal demonstrations of the previous month, the demonstrators were all carrying Mexican flags. Well, someone wise 'em up for the 5/1 biggies, and they switched to US flags. But, there can be no doubt with who the illegal's sympathies lie. nb |

You don't know who they hire for those jobs, and even if your suspicion is correct that they are illegal, what the contractors for executives do is not the same as what big-business does. Since the things you cite here must be the best answers you have, this and every example you give below is an admission by you that big business is NOT involved with illegal aliens. > The whole construction industry >has been gutted by illegals. Hell no. It's gone through the freakin' roof! Not because of constructions costs. Mostly because of inflationary pressures due the cost of oil for transportation and to make many of the products (shingles, plastic pipe, electric insulation, etc.) used in construction and because of deficit spending on the war in Iraq. Deficit spending is inflationary. >Are you saying the housing construction industry is not big business? There is or was a law against that. But such laws are hard to enforce against small businesses (and didn't even apply to very small businesses) Find us a big business that doesn't save jobs for those who have been deployed. That's what the topic is here, remember, Big Business. Or tell us who changed the law so that is no longer required, if it isn't. >... |

I find it humorous that we find out near weekly that our civil liberties are
being further eroded, and all we can do is complain about illegal immigrants. "He who would give up a little freedom for a little security deserves neither". We stopped deserving this country in '04. I say we give it to folks who'll at least stop screwing it up. -- ----------------------------------------------------- Note: I am a mere end-user with no financial stake in any products that I may discuss. You know we are in trouble when the Senate has time to pass a
resolution, of absolutely no effect, Ah, Senator, when you voted to pass a resolution that the national anthem can only be sung in ENGLISH, were you aware that it can be sung in ANY language, under our current constitution? I recall something about the Bill of Rights guarenteeing our freedom of speech. So why don't you just go back to sleep. Aware of this stunning development, the Senate quickly went back to devise the latest so-called immigration bill. I worked in an American Embassy as Chief of the Visa Section, thirty-five years ago, which meant driving myself crazy while dealing with thousands of penniless people trying to get visas to spend the winter in that winter holiday paradise - Paterson, New Jersey. Or maybe to take the eight kids up to meet their mom who already was in Disneyland enjoying her vacation. LOL That was 35 years ago and illegal immigration was already a BIG problem. Congressman Rodino from Newark, NJ, and big name in Congress and on immigration, came by to talk about this, but didn't see much hope for any relief in the future. Especially not if it would cost money and people for INS and the State Department. Good God, man we have to pay for the war in Viet Nam and the Poverty Program. He didn't say that, but it was true. He was right, nobody did anything and they will not today. Why? Because immigrants, women, minorities, and even retirees are needed now to fill all sorts of jobs that we cannot fill because our birth rate declined after the huge baby boom added multi-millions to the population (mostly Caucasians and African Americans). Now that generation is heading into retirement and without the above workers, and even with them, we just do not have enough people here to fill all the jobs the baby boomers are leaving in the next twenty years. Mostly we see the illegal immigrants because they are concentrated, doing highly visible jobs like construction, farm work, restaurant work, and lots of others. Of course many are here legally as residents and citizens, but often with lousy American educations so they end up with crummy jobs. The also end up in the Armed Forces and bleed and die just like you and me. Even with that, our Armed Forces must hire and train foreigners to finish a war we got going. Iraq, in case you hadn't heard about our "exit strategy." My immigrant mother (Ireland by way of Canada) was a civilian nurse during WW II, while my father, son of Italian immigrant worked for the British in New York Harbor since he already served in McArthur's 42nd Infantry Division in France, World War I. They sent three of us kids off to WW II and Korea to serve in the US Navy and Army. That's the story of all immigration, as is plenty of discrimination and even hatred of people who seem too different to live with us White Folks. Irish, Italian, Puerto Rican, Mexican, the United States of American can be really tough on you if you are not "REALLY WHITE." We can even turn those folks against any new wave of immigrants by simply saying, "they are taking our jobs!" Even when it is not true. |
