Default How big is a square of chocolate?

Hi everyone, I'm trying to follow a US recipe that calls for 2 squares of
chocolate, but I can't find out how much this is. (We don't measure
chocolate in squares in the UK)
Hope someone can help!

Every ounce I've ever seen had 28 grams to it. Do you low-carbers get
bigger ounces?

Sometimes the squares are rectangles, Sarah (Hershey's, for example.)
A square of chocolate is one ounce - 28g.

Does may you wonder about their recreational intakes though. A
surprising number of peoples seem to have this oz-gram thing down pat.

Not down pat, Rascal! Just being especially considerate knowing she
doesn't deal in ounces. She asked so nice that's it's hard to not be
extra helpful. :-P

That reminds me one time when I was just a kid I was making a recipe
that called for a cube of butter. Little did I know that a cube of
butter and a stick of butter were the same thing. I ended up only
using 2 tablespoons because I thought the recipe was calling for a
cubed shaped piece of butter. Needless to say the recipe didn't turn
out.

Or a cube of butter could be in some's opinion, a whole pound. You can
still buy it in one piece per pound.
It's generally a bit rectangular, but not that much.

If you are using bakers chocolate as a sub (powdered) the conversion is
3Tbsp bakers chocolate plus 1 Tbsp oil

That was, up till recently, the only way to buy butter in New Zealand.

Now you can buy it by the half-pound as well.
