The bolts holding the manifold in place have sheared. They have to drill
them out. The truck has 108,000 on it. ;-)

But, thanks anyhoo!

I have tried many times to like carob, but I don't. I really can't stand the
taste.

Mm, but I don't buy or eat either one due to food sensitivities. <G>
I do, however, have a yam in the 'frige.
I can slice that up and turn on the deep fryer.

Now there is a happy thought! :-)
I've not used that gadget all week.

The cookies are the cake on the frosting

(Back in times of major stress, I've eaten commercial chocolate fudge
frosting from the can, but it had to be cold).

Mmm hmmm. Although these are not the starchiest of veggies.

Tara has a good point about steak--although chicken
is probably just as good for this--b vitamins will calm jangled nerves and
give
you "non-nervous" grounded energy. I take a high potency "sustained release"
(what they are calling "time release now") kind and the requisite C and
magnesium.

Hope you feel better, I definitely know the syndrome.

Not according to the sites I'm looking at (mostly blogs of Americans
who have travelled to Tokyo). Apparently in the neighborhood of 200
yen (currently less than two dollars) for a serving (which is usually
two pieces of nigiri). I can live with that.

Isn't it the 1970s health food version of a healthy alternaive for
chocolate? With chocolate bein inaprropraite because its decadence is sinful
and politically incorrect? I really don't get carob as a chocoalte
substitute. But even so, I recently bought carob syrup in a Turksh store and
expect it to be simply sweet. Will try it on bread, first, and then maybe on
pancakes, in baking or in coffee. But I will not try and pretend it's
chocolate.

And health food places have progressed immensely in the types of flavors and
ingredietns they sell.

I made about 2lt of the stuff about 3 weeks ago. It's maturing rather
nicely, and will be wonderful in August :-)

Also got 3.5lts of Single malt Scotch, 2.5lt Bourbon, and about 3.5lt of
Rum maturing as well.

It's a good thing I don't drink spirits!!

Trying to be good and stay reasonably low carb. ;-)

Part of my dailies.

Yep! Blue laws!

It was very refreshing when we visited California and I was able to walk
into a _grocery store_ at 2 am and buy tequila!

Here I cannot buy anything but beer or wine on Sunday, and only after 12
noon. On weekdays, I can only buy hard liquor between 10 am and 9 pm and
cannot buy wine or beer between midnight, and, I think, 6 am or so. Not
sure about the morning cutoff.

It's pretty stupid really as those that want the stuff will simply stock
up.

No hard stuff in grocery stores either.

From the grocery stores. Beer or Wine.

Goodness! :-)
I only have one agave and it's for landscaping. <G>
But it has thrown a pup and will probably make more in the future. I
need to either put it in the ground or a larger pot.

Some, if not most, states in the US allow sales of wine and
beer in the regular grocery store. They aren't considered
hard liquor, so the distinction makes sense to someone,
somewhere.

The state where I live, any kind of booze is bought from a
liquor store only, and they are open 7 days a week.

Here in Oz (Queensland) we had pretty restrictive liquour laws for
most of the 20th C and pubs typically were only allowed to open 10 to
10, Monday to Saturday. So I was amazed at the freedom to buy booze,
even in what was a "dry county", in the US.

When I was there decades ago I stayed in a motel in Tifton GA for a
couple of days. The motel bar shut at midnight on Saturday because
Sunday was a *really* dry day -- but it opened again at midnight on
Sunday!

Cheers, Phred.

Yeah, blue laws are silly, I don't know why they hang
on like that to this day. If it hasn't changed, there is still a
county in my state where stores are not permitted to open
on Sunday. Merchants must be just thrilled with that.

Not usually, most stores close at night. Meaning stores
in general, not just liquor stores. I'm pretty sure liquor
stores have to close at some point, too, to get people to
sober up or something. (laugh) I read that in the paper
a long time ago. That made no sense, either.
