If it's cryovac (vacuum) packed there should be a date on the wrapper.
If it was bought fresh out of the wrapper, it should be good until it
either smells funny or feels slimy or changes color. If you've had it
for a while and it smells and looks OK, make sure you cook it very
well-done.

I've used some out of the freezer that was over 2 years old. It had
lost quality at that point, but was fine in soup.
