Default New website for pasta recipes

(Revised)

Hello All!
I recently started a website called www.bestpastarecipes.com When my
wife and I go to Italian restaurants, we often run into the same boring
kinds of pasta dishes. We've recently been going to a restaurant
here in Orange County, Ca. where the owner has come up with some of
the best pasta recipes either of us have ever had.

This played a very large role in starting this web site. We would like
to have some of these kinds of great tasting pasta dishes but presented
in a way that the average person would feel confident preparing them at
home. I thought it might be fun to have a contest where people could
submit their recipes and we would draw from these and post a featured
recipe once a week. The audience could then rate each one, and after
three months, recognize the top rated winner with a special article,
picture, short bio., and maybe some kind of monetary incentive. This
just sounded like a lot of fun and an opportunity for us all to share
some great recipes. What do you all think of the concept? I wanted to
keep the monetary prize big enough to draw interest but not so big that
it intimidates people. or makes people think this is so big they don't
have a chance. Any ideas on the amount?
Has anyone in this group tried this? Any suggestions?
Thank you,
Mike
If you would like to submit a pasta recipe that you've had a great
response to, you can email it to me at .
[Only non-copyrighted recipes please - you must be willing to have us
print it on our site, and have others prepare it as well.]
(I'm thinking of doing the same thing with great shrimp, Cajun style
or dessert recipes. If you have any of these we would be delighted to
post those as well).

Dear Learning or Mike - still Learning, or whatever,

Give us a break here! You sound like a nice guy and all that, but I had
a look at your site the first time you posted it - sheesh! Please post
something we can discuss - like cooking, or food or something....

However, if you really wanna know what I think of your site, then what I
would suggest is:

a)Start by removing removing all the "Test" crap from the site - looks
barely started, never mind finished...

b)I haven't been able to find any recipes on there yet, so am I missing
something, or what?

c) Gimme a shout when you have got something for me to look at and I
might drop in again.

I will give you one thing though, at least it sort of works in FireFox

Oh yeah and take a look at this:

No Problem Chatty Cathy. I appreciate your taking the time to send
along the links. I looked at one of them which explicitely advised not
to publish unfinished sites and how that irritates the %*#*#*%(% out
of people (paraphrased). I guess in my hurry to see how the thing
worked . . . aah no excuse. I will try to get something on there for
people ASP.

Anyways Cathy, what do you think of the concept I described. If you
knew I was having such a contest, what would motivate you to go through
your files and get that recipe that you only make once a year that
everyone always goes crazy over. Recognition? Or would it have to be
big bucks ? ! !

I like the concept of photo.net. They offer nothing but recognition
but when you click on the best rated photo of the month or year, you
really get some stunning photos (that site is huge now though, so it
really is an honor to be chosen as a top picture there). I wonder if
such a thing could happen with a recipe site. Certainly people's
tastes in food vary as much as their taste in art, and yet maybe some
of the more "stunning" recipes could rise to the top. Then again maybe
to get the thing started you have to offer a few bucks. Let me know
what you think and thanks again for the feedback.

Mike

Chatty Cathy - who is still in a bad mood.
I'm sorry to hear that. Hope whatever is bumming you out
improves.
I made a few improvements to the website along the lines of some
of your suggestions. Basically trimmed it up, deleted the "will be
open in July" and added the first recipe to it which was submitted by
my Mother in Law. I'll probably look for some non-copyrighted sources
and throw a few more recipes on there just to get things started.
Hopefully then people will start submitting their own favorites.
Thanks again for your suggestions and once again I hope things improve
for you. I hate when life is like that . . .
Mike

I look forward to the future of your site and the submissions I am
sure will come. I love simple pasta creations, not dishes that take
tons of ingredients and usually stuff most people do not have.

I will be submitting some too. What I won't be submitting are pics of
myself and what loving pasta has done to me ;(

Good luck!

That is very valuable feedback Mark, and well put. Maybe I could have
one page devoted towards just those kinds of recipes. That might be
something others would appreciate as well. Since my Mother-in-Law was
the one who submitted our first pasta dish on the website, I will pass
your feedback on to her as well.

I was blessed about the first forty years of my life with being able to
eat anything and everything. Now that I'm 45, that's not true anymore!
No problem on the pics. My wife said the only way I'm getting any of
her recipes is if she didn't have to have her picture included . . .

Thanks Again for the feedback. I'll be looking forward to your
recipes.
Mike
