Too funny! Me and the ex were driving down the road near home and came
upon possum roadkill (blood and guts). She actually asked "is it dead?"
and I replied, "no, it's just playing dead," She thought it over for a
couple seconds then punched me in the arm. Go figure!

same time. I once told my ex that she absolutely could NOT run any water
while I was installing a motion sensor light over the back door. Same scene
as yours - 2 second delayed reaction.

When all those worms started coming out of that critter, I took one of
his poops to work to check under the microscope...

He had more than just worms. <shudder> Amoebas and other protozoan
parasites. It was....

gross.

And considering what I do for a living, it takes a _lot_ to gross me out.

Unlike ours, which contain a mixture of rose petals and emeralds. Rumors
sometimes circulate that E. coli are in there, too, but that's just plain

The only American Marsupial. Related distantly to kangaroos.
Nasty creatures, combination scavenger and small predator.
I've killed them for killing my poultry in the past...

When they are very young but have just stopped hanging on momma's back, they
look a little less like a rat and more like a funny faced owl on four legs.
I think they are cute, but I don't want to eat one.

Being a relatively newcomer in Oz, I found the above website info very
informative. I didn't realise that America had a cousin of the Australian
possum. We have lots of possums in our garden. They are very cute but wild
and their bites are dangerous. I haven't seen possum on a menu yet.

My cats have caught possums in the past, but now don't bother anymore - more
trouble than its worth I suppose.
I have seen them in Mexican standoffs though.

They also ate the guts out of nesting ducks, ate eggs, and any young
birds they could find. Chickens are pretty helpless at night and possums
are nocturnal.

They are _not_ harmless to poultry.

My dogs always helped me to corner them, then you can kill them.

Om -> normally a pacifist and wildlife lover, but intolerant of
overpopulated poultry predators....

Raccoons are even worse.
