Ran across this book about odd food and odd food customs at the
library. It looks promising. The full title is.. Gastronaut : Adventures in Food for the Romantic, the Foolhardy, and the Brave It seems that Gates is a BBC food presenter with a show called COOKING IN THE DANGER ZONE. see http://www.thegastronaut.com/ He may be more entertaining than Bourdain and hopefully better than the obnoxious young dweebs they have on GLOBETREKKER.
