Default Strawberry Smoothie Recipe

This strawberry smoothie should be made with organic ingredients to
enjoy a complete healthy fruit smoothie.

The ingredients make 1 smoothie of about 2 cups (500 ml)

It is very simple and outmost delicious.

INGREDIENTS

* 6 + 1/3 ounce (180 gr) fresh strawberry
* 6 + 1/3 ounce (180 gr) plain white yogurt
* 3 + 1/2 ounce (100 gr) ice cubes
* 1 + 3/4 (50 gr) brown sugar

PREPARATION

Just place all ingredients in the cup of an electric blender, milkshake
maker or food processor and blend until smooth.

OK, I give. Isn't a smoothie half a half a banana, a cup o' berry juice,
and a hand full of ice cubes blended together until "smooth." How does a
blender not accomplish this. What does accomplish this?

I do use a cheapo blender for smoothie making. When the blades on one
go, I get another cheapo one. That's actually more cost effective than
buying a good one which, I find, burns out at roughly the same rate as
the cheapos.

The only trick to a smoothe smoothie is the banana or papaya. Those 2
fruits reliably give the right consistency. After that, the varieties
are endless. Here's the rough recipe.

Combine in a blender.

1 banana or half cup papaya
orange juice, water, or any other juice- enough to cover the blades
6 strawberries or some blueberries or a peach or any other fruit
3 ice cubes or frozen juice cubes (I have juice cubes in freezer all
summer.)
a dollop of yogurt or some powdered milk (optional) (I don't use it.)
a squirt of honey or protein powder (optional) (I don't use it.)

Then you just blend until smoothe. Serving in a tall glass with one of
those bendy plastic straws is important.

What constitutes a good blender? I have one that was a wedding present 33
years ago. It is still going strong.

There are blenders designed for making margaritas and the like - those
have sturdier blades, and IME, work the best. Throw a little milk or
cream in your smoothie and it makes all the difference in the world. I
also add protein powder...My next purchase is a juicer: beets,
pineapple, carrot, banana and oranges = heaven! Good and good for ya!

A good one is one that's still going strong after 33 years. A cheapo
one is one bought at a garage sale that breaks after a few years of
cracking ice. (Yeah, yeah, I know what I said about them burning out at
roughly the same speed.)

This is getting too complicated; smoothies aren't brain surgery. Fruit,
liquid and ice cubes. After that, it's up to you.

I like a big, ripe peach and enough milk to make it drinkable.

I peel and freeze my overripe bananas and use them when I make
smoothies. No need for ice cubes that way. Usually at lease some of
the berries are frozen too.

If the fruit is not sweet enough, I add a little corn syrup -- sugar
won't dissolve cuz it's too cold. Use honey (or molasses) if you need
to pretend that makes it healthier.
