The problem with this rationale is it doesn't work with a real phobia.

Example, I always knew I didn't like enclosed spaces. I don't like
sitting in a restaurant booth where I feel cramped. When DH & I went
camping years ago we decided we would sleep in the back of our truck.
The bed of the truck had one of those hard covers. I made curtains to
go over the windows & we put a mattress in the bed also. The
campground had no lights & I woke up in the middle of the night in
complete darkness not knowing where I was. I had a full blown panic
attack. I actually felt like I couldn't breath. I didn't even know I
had that in me. This was all unexpected & uncontrollable.

> > I don't have any full-fledged phobias

Then you wouldn't really know what it 't like then.

'zactly...... :-)

The thing I've found about Phobias is that you don't really know that
you have them until you are suddenly exposed to the proper stimulus.

Panic attacks are no fun.
I have mild claustrophobia. I can control it somewhat, but it's not easy.

And you could not get me to jump out of an airplane for several million
dollars...... unless you sedated me first!

I can see how that mind set would work.

Phobias are not a joke tho' and it would take time and effort to
overcome them.

I just wonder what causes them in the first place?

Some people theorize it's from past life experiences. Sort of a soul
memory.

Huh! I can't even jump off the side of a swimming pool! I don't mind being
thrown in though

I just know, that if we ever have a fire and I am expected to jump out of a
window, I will die in the fire!!!

My David was a para, and even he says that anyone who jumps out of a plane
for fun is crazy!

Heh, you reminded me of the time I was working at an Evergreen
producer, cutting brush, which was full of earthworms. I kept a
small pan of dirt to put them in, rather than throwing them in
the garbage (which was burned). On my break, I'd take the worms
outside and let them go. My coworkers thought I was crazy...

I have a friend that has a horrible phobia about having her wrists
restrained... She found out when she freaked one time when her husband
grabbed her wrists when they were "playing" in bed.

She said she did some past life regression work under hypnosis and was
restrained and tortured during the inquisition in a past life.

<shrugs> I dunno..... I do believe in reincarnation. ;-)

Ohh, ever see the movie "Audrey Rose"?

Creep...Me...Out.

Althought it's a bit corny at times since it was done in '77, but it's
also very chilling.

I read the book...

That was bad enough!

OB cooking: Thawing out the remaining meatballs I made and froze last
