Food nostalgia trip

I just returned from WA state a few days ago....finished the licensing
renewals, the resupply of items needed for my classroom, buying the
hard to fins clothing items, etc and enjoyed a food nostalgia trip.

Wild blackberries for a morning snack

Marionberry scones for breakfast

Linguine with clam sauce - a dozen manila clams steamed in a garlic
butter sauce along with a salad of field greens with a basalmic
vinaigrette at Travaglione's Ravioli in Shelton - dine in a wonderful
classy but casual atmosphere or buy her pasta and sauces to take home
and heat for dinner there. http://www.travagliones.com

A requisite trip to the DQ for a pecan clauster blizzard

Smoked salmon and corn chowder

Pacific oysters with peppers and Asian vegetables sautéed in a
garlicky Hoisin sauce at Xinh's Clam and Oyster House (also in Shelton)

Smoked salmon Caesar salad.

I brought home homemade raspberry jam, Beaver horseradish, and smoked
salmon in my carry on baggage (I got through before they clmaped down
on carry ons)

(purposely NOT snipped because this is a fantastic post)

All I can say is, to quote Alton Brown, "Good Eats"! I'm so jealous. So,
so, so, so very jealous. Sigh.

We had some of the jam slathered over waffles this past Saturday. I've
been digging in and having a slice of bread and jam everyday. We're
saving the salmon for sometime around Thanksgiving. I'll do the smoked
salmon and corn chowder then.

Okay, I've *got* to get DH to take me there for dinner ASAP. We
keep saying we should, then don't get around to it...

Shelton is turning into quite the little foodie town. You know Xinh's.
I talked to her when I had dinner there, which happened to be the night
before she made it to Discovery Channel on "Dirtiest Jobs". The host
was geoduck farming and he took some geoducks to Xinh to learn how to
prepare them. It was a hoot.

Steven's is very good also as in Vern's. All of these places are within
walking distance of one another. Stevens is in the old bank building on
Railroad Ave - opposite end of the block, same side, from Xinh's. In
the old hotel on the corner of Railroad and First is Verns (on the
first floor, the upstairs has been converted to apartments). Cheryl
Travaglione is on Franklin across from Evergreen Elementary School -
I've know her for as long as I lived in Shelton. She has a decent wine
selection too.
