(And yes, I've had freshly made bagels before - NYC doesn't have the monopoly on them.) I just don't like them and don't understand the rage about them. Normally I don't much care for those round things with holes in that are sold as bagels around here, but any time I go to Montreal I make sure to get some, and when my son comes to visit he usually picks up some for me. |

Hashbrowns, onions, chopped cooked bacon, and cheese. <burp> That was at 7:00 and I'm good until lunch which is about 12:30 or 1:00. |

Dry, salty, crumblyness. Nope, I prefer the chewy bagel. kili |

Even if I do a ham bagelwich, I prefer butter over mayo. The only thing I don't like on a bagel is tuna salad because it falls through the middle. :~) kili |

Maybe someday you will enjoy perfectly made biscuit before you leave this earth. And a hot biscuit slathered with lots of butter laid open on the plate then drenched either with Karo light syrup (when I was a child the brand we bought was Bob White) or molasses is fine eatin'. Whoooooo-eeeeeeeeeeee!! |

I must say though, that I've had far more *great* bagels than I have had *great* biscuits in my life. I like to use the Cook's Ilustrated recipe for "mile high biscuits" when I'm in the mood...always come out gorgeous. Sandy |

Bagels seemed to be kind of a "fad" food thing, about ten years ago franchised bagel places were thick on the ground. Used to have two on the strip here in my nabe, now there are none. I liked Einstein's, for what they were they were fine (although a true bagel aficionado would blanch at their version of "bagels")... Now Chipotle and a "pan - Asian" place have taken the spots once occupied by the bagelries...no doubt they'll move on some day too to make way for the next trend. -- Best Greg |
