Default Five-cheese Emmy dinner

Dunno what it is but when the big awards shows come
along I get into a wine-and-cheese mood. (Emmy/Oscar/Tony
only; the music and cable awards are a joke.)

The wine was a Toasted Head chardonnay; supermarket plonk
but very good supermarket plonk. The cheeses were a step
up, though:

Brie with champignons
English farmouse cheddar
A wonderfully buttery Stilton
Chevre with herbs of unknown composition
Idiazabal manchego

Not a clunker in the bunch. Spread the soft ones on some
freshly sliced baguette rounds, and used the harder ones
to top some wheaty crackers.

Had a bowl on the side with cornichons, fefferonis, and
sliced heirloom tomato (of an unknown cultivar).

Guessed right on about 60% of the awards. What can I
say, it's a gift.

Refuse to watch them.. I hear the VMAs were a jumping off point for KFed's
album and new 'acting' career.........Jayzus Christmas.......they insist on
stuffing that crap on the unsuspecting public.....
Although I did hear a comment I thought appropriate. 'All that money that
Spears et. al have and they CHOOSE to look and act like that!!!" The old
saying goes.....'you can take the trash out of the trailer park, but you
can't take the trailer park out of the trash.'

That venue makes you want a baloney sammich on white bread slathered with
mayonaisse followed by an RC cola and a moonpie.

Sounds good. But you can have my moonpie. And I want lettuce on that
sandwich.

I'm curious about this one. Did you buy it at the store or trap it
yourself?

I saw someone checking out of the supermarket with Duke's Mayo just last
week. I was thinking, Dukes? I've never heard of that! Is it generic? I
always use Best Foods (Hellmann's), and other than Kraft or a store brand,
that's all I've ever seen.

I've heard of it, but never run across it. Doubt they distribute to
Left Coast.
