Default spices and herbs question -- sort of

I'm wondering if there would be any interest in my posting something.

I have a file that lists numerous herbs and spices and the foods they go
with, and another one that lists basic food types and the herbs and
spices that go with them.

I got these from the GEnie network around 1991, but they are somewhat
extensive, and I think they're good.

Should I post them?

Hello everyone:

I am Kit. I eat, therefore I cook. As I have the time now to expand my
culinary horizon, I am working with new-to-me spices and herbs. My
objective is to very the experience of the foods I eat by adapting the
culinary practices of other cultures.

So, when Mordechai asks if he should post a list of herbs and spices and
the foods they go with, I figured I best de-lurk and encourage him to
post those files. I will find them quite interesting.

Enjoy your day.

Kit

Hi
Sounds interesting. What type of a file is it?
You do mean posting in plain text here, don't you?

Let us know. Seems like a few of us are interested.

Thanks

They should be included in the RFC website, IMO. It could be very
useful!

Sounds like useful files. If you can't post them here, I can post them
on a website for you and put the link on here

No problem guys. I will put them on the site, if Mordechai wants to
email them to me. Sounds very useful.

I can put them into numerous different formats, if you wish. I have them
in Word Perfect, but I had planned to post them in text. But again,
advise and direct me, and I'll do my best.

Of course, I'm hoping they're good and not something pedestrian or
ridiculous. So I recommend that I post them here first, and then if they
are indeed good and useful, we could take it from there.

I am told it no longer exists. It was a humongous ISP (back in the days
when no one called them "ISP"s -- we called it a "network," but it was
simply an online service) that had roundtables/forums in the gazillions.
It was started, I think, by General Electric, which was why the name was
always spelled GEnie, with two capitalized letters.

It its heyday, it was something big, and it the greatest.

I just remembered that there is a Wikipedia entry for it. It's at
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GEnie . In fact, I added a few sentences to
the entry, about the personal feelings of the people during the mass
exodus when the changed the fee structure. I left at that time as well.
But while it lasted, it was very good.

A real man woulda posted it right off the bat... wtf are you asking
permission?!?!?

Such a list would be very subjective... why didn't you just post it
instead of going the permission granting wimp route... probably because
you already realize the subjectivity and are truly too wimpy to risk
taking any criticism. But I don't care if some disingenuous wimps
grant you a licence sight unseen, I'll still critique yer stinkin wimpy
list. That's the only resason usenet exists. Mordechai, you need to
grow some testicles.

LOL! I have Sheldon killfiled. I wasn't even aware that he'd posted
until I saw your reply! Thanks for the defense.

The basic thing to realize is that I'm not a *******, and I care about
other people's feelings. Consequently, I will act differently than
people like Sheldon. To people like him, I'm a wimp. To people like you,
and (I assume) most of us here, I'm decent.

I'd rather be decent and risk being called a wimp, than be a *******.

FWIW, in my books, it takes a wimp and a ******* to kill file someone, brag
about doing it and then run the person down. There is nothing quite so lame
as someone who brags about their kill file. It is very childish.

That was not a brag, but have it the way you will. But I *AM* childish,
I'll grant you that.

He posted two lists in different threads. One is spices/herbs and what
they go with, the other is Stuff and what spices/herbs go with them.
They're basically useless lists, as any such lists would have to be.
They're neither complete nor prescriptive, nor do they imply that an
omitted pairing wouldn't work well. -aem

That's exactly what I surmised... I believe you so I won't bother to
look for them.

Exactly. And as such, there's no reason to think that they limit anyone,
since that is not their intention.
