history of words 'panifiable', 'pani puri' and 'panna cotta'
 

The editors of the Oxford English Dictionary, in their newsletter, are
looking for uses of three words relating to food.

They want:

1. panifiable (capable of being made into bread) - uses later than
1849.

2. pani puri (Indian dish of filled cakes) - uses earlier than 1987.

3. panna cotta (Italian dessert) - uses earlier than 1987.

A few years ago this group was able to contribute positively to such a
request - early uses of Tom Yam soup and dolmas, if I remember
correctly.

The editors have searched the web, so instances there are not what
they want.

What they do want are uses of these words in books, magazines or
newspapers printed in English.

I'm happy to relay on any instances that are posted here (preferably,
since we short of items to read!) or sent to me by email.
