My friend is starting an online business which helps "Hosts" make a little money and helps "Guests" find interesting things to do locally - when at home or on holiday.

The business is a market place where anyone (small business / individual) can list an activity for sale. Hosts offer their Skill, Knowledge and Services to Guests who want to learn new skills or have new experiences. The focus is initially on food and drink - for example; barista training, pizza making, wine tasting, break making, cheese tasting... It's like ebay for experiences.

Host and Guests will communicate and book via the website and reviews and feedback will help to build the community.

Do you think this is a good idea & would it be something you would be interested in trying?

that sounds like a really great idea. but maybe there should be some sort of way of critiquing it? so lots of small businesses dont bombard the site, there should maybe be a way of allowing reviews to be written, or a number of 'stars' given to the restaurant, or even a copy of the menu so people can see what sort of prices it offers or any deals?

for example on groupon I found really great ways to eat-out in my city for much cheaper, it recommends different restaurants to go to and where is good to visit, and there is often a good idea of the price, so maybe you could follow something similar with your business idea :)
