Default Kumquats

The kumquats are ripening and I'm in a quandary. Still have several jars
of kumquat marmalade and several two cup vac bags of kumquat puree left
from last year when we had a bumper crop.

I know I can't eat all the fruit on two trees, even with Miz Anne's help
but don't really need more puree and marmalade. I'm seriously thinking
of taking the things to one or both of the farmer's markets we have here
nowadays. Looks like a couple of bushels worth, probably about a half
bushel will ripen at a time. Now I've got to look up the going price of
tree ripened fruit. Oh, Woe is me!

Broccoli is about ready to pick, probably just enough right now to have
for a side dish but more will be ready to pick, blanch, and freeze in
another week. The cabbages are heading up nicely so I might try some of
Bob Baron's kraut in a jar. Still getting some cherry tomatoes from the
lone surviving bush. The sweet chiles are still doing well so we're
picking six or eight each day. Okra is pretty much done as is the eggplant.

Sweet peas are up and climbing and the green beans are producing just
enough to have some for dinner about every third day.

I'm bored, just sitting around watching the contractor doing repairs to
this old house. Replacing storm damaged T-111 siding with exterior
cement board, going to paint inside and out, and repair some storm
damaged doors (Hurricane Ike pushed some locked doors open, springing
the hinges). I think I will leave replacing the windows with more energy
efficient ones to whomever buys this place next year.

All arrangements are made for our fiftieth wedding anniversary
celebratory dinner with all the descendants around us. Nice seafood
restaurant in Huffman, Texas, we lived there for a few years and our
daughter graduated high school there eons ago. It's also close to where
all the descendants are now living. I'm wondering if I should make and
take a nice cake, Naw! Way to much trouble.

It's a cool, sunny day here in SW Louisiana. Miss Tilly Dawg is napping
on the couch here in my office and all is right with our world.

Woe, woe a hundred times woe) Hell boy, sell 'em for whatever you can
get! It is more then you get when they drop off the tree

Thank you, we're having it on December nineteenth versus the
twenty-sixth, which is our real anniversary date. No restaurants in that
area are open on that date. Hmm! Seems some people still celebrate
Christmas. How nice.
