I'm buying a freezer when I go back to school in September, so I can buy
more things in bulk and freeze meals to have ready when I don't feel like cooking after a long day at school/work, and my mom just called me. She found me a new Foodsaver, in the box, with bags, for five dollars at a yard sale. Whee! Serene -- http://www.momfoodproject.com |

Helpful hint: Cut the sealed bags at the seam, empty them, then turn them inside out and wash them. For vegetables I just hand wash them, for meats I run them through the dishwasher by pinning the bags to the top rack with clothes pins. Hang up to dry afterward. Works like a charm. I've got bags here that have gotten so small I use them for half and quarter cup measurements for recipes I use a lot. Waste not want not is the home food preservers credo. Have fun with your new toy. |

Wouldn't hold a vacuum for more than 10 minutes. Donated it to Society of Saint Vincent de Paul, one of the local thrift stores. Now, for anything that'll fit, I use a 1-1/2 liter Mason jar and the jar sealer attachment. Ross. |

I bought it at Tuesday Morning and it holds a vacuum very well. -- Barb, http://web.me.com/barbschaller July 19, 2011 - Pickled Boiled Dirt Chunks |

<snip> ...and the jar sealer attachment. Ross. <snip>
I'm with you Ross, I heart the jar sealer attachments, I have the regular and wide mouth attachments. I seal everything (dry stuff) I can, no pun intended... |

<snip> I'm buying a freezer when I go back to school in September...
<snip> I did the same thing in 2008!!! (Actually I bought an additional freezer) I just couldn't keep up with everything while working, studying, going to school and had an extra temp job to boot so, I took the $$$ from the temp job and blew it on an extra freezer. Then, last year, I replaced my older freezer, still going strong but gave it to my niece & nephew--they were starting over after a job loss. Three years later, both freezers are still full...not complaining, It's a blessing. : - ] |
