Food Saver

OK, I have read a lot of good comments about the food saver, but what is the
difference between the Pro III, Pro II, Pro Sport, the V1205, or the 1075
models?
I am not keen on the "top of the line" with a bunch of bells and whistles I
will not use.
Thanks

Dixie

I have the FoodSaver Compact II and it has served me well for at least
ten years. No bells and whistles at all on it. Don't know about the rest
but bet you can find our all about them at Tilia's website.

I think Tilia keeps changing model numbers just to confuse people ;-(.
Basic operation of all models is to pull a vacuum on the bag and then
seal it shut.
IMO, one feature that is mandatory is the ability to seal the bag at
any point during the vacuum operation.
Also, IMO, the Tilia canisters are not worth the money. Mason jars
work better and cost a lot less.

i have the 1050. after you put the bag in place & lock the top you just
press the button & it seals. some models you have to hold down the button.
it is also supposed to help to simmer the jar lids & dry them, supposed to
make the compound seal better. i just have a baggie full for when i need
them. the large lid sealer always works but there are issues with the
smaller one. putting a 2nd lid compound up on top of the sealing lid helps
the seal to take (makes it the correct depth or something) but sometimes no
matter what you do a jar & lid just won't work. try another lid first before
trying another jar. also i had no suction once, turned the hose around & it
worked fine. go figure, each end looks the same & there's nothing on mine
that says use this end in the machine.

The slide straight line cutter is a GOOD feature to have. It's a razor
that allows you to cut straight square bags off of rolls.

Can you also use it to open sealed bags? If so I might have to upgrade
my old one.
