Default PAPAYA?

got a huge papaya at the store yesterday, don't know if i'll be able to
finish it fresh so i was wondering how to dry it. just slice it & put it in
my dehydrator? does it need any sort of pre-treatment? i know it won't
taste like the commercial kind which is almos tlike candy but will it be
somewhat close? thanks
