Hi all - The evening after I typed in the last message here I had a
Tylenol 3 and went to bed. Several hours later around 01:30 I'm in horrendous pain and my face looked like I'd gone several rounds with a freight train. Feeling really weird on top of it all I typed in 'blood poisoning symptoms' and read through a dozen entries and realised 'oh hell...I'm in trouble' and phoned my husband who was staying overnight at our son's place due to the blizzard we were having... and he was 2 hours south. Called him and told him I was going to phone 911 and told him what was up. Called 911, the paramedics came, checked me out and brought me to the hospital... not a fun ride in a blizzard. The secondary highway here has no lights... and the storm is something else! Doctor checks me out and tells confirms advanced blood poisoning, puts me on some antibiotics and pain killers (oxycodone) which, incidently do zero for me. Oh yippee... Anyway- my face swelled up to unrecognizable proportions, one eye swelled up shut and spiked a high fever. Joints hurt like hell and now I'm having to deal with some cardiovascular issues. Moral of the story? Don't be a chicken like me and put off pulling a broken tooth. I'm still far from healthy, face looks like hell and all the rest of it. PS: Oxycodone barely touch pain even now, and other than it making me feel nauseated I don't know why I blew $20 on it. I'm not using them. Anyway - thanks all for your patience and the replies ![]() Karen |

Oxycodone makes me itch & my new dr. replaced it with the Tylenol3. It isn't that much more effective, but dr. says I've been taking the other for quite a few months now... Anyway the T3 seems not to upset the old tum tum and it doesn't make me itch. I think y'all look real nice on the web. Once saw a lady at a company function with a hat with a *veil*. Boy didn't she look aristocratic covering the bruises from her facelift. Edrena |

I'm with you on the oxycodone, the one with ibuprofen makes toss my cookies and the one with tylenol makes me hallucinate, sort of like I've heard some of the illegal drugs do. See strange visions and sounds. I've added either version to my "Do Not Give" list I carry in my wallet. Good luck with your healing. George |

As for the Tylenol 3s, I had always thought that hallucinations were sort of like seeing a 6 foot rabbit like in that wonderfully funny movie 'Harvey' but in my case it was more subtle. I would 'see' [for lack of a better word' something out of the corner of my eye and when I turned to get a better look nothing's there. Nasty stuff. Don't know how or why people get wired on narcotics Between the nausea and dizziness it's nasty stuff. Funny thing - the doctor in the ER says to me that lots of people on the streets would like to gets their hands on oxycodone. I'm looking at him out of one eye and a bruised swollen face, in pain and said to him 'goody for them. Will this kill the pain any'? He laughs and says it should. Directions says to take one or two every 6 hours. I'm a medical nervous nellie and so I take 1/2 to see what happens and follow that up with an extra strength regular Tylenol an hour later. No way am I going to float around in outer space. I made a colossal mistake back about 2 years ago of taking a Tylenol 3 on an empty stomach. Bad move, don't recommend it at all! (laughing) So it look like both of us have a list we keep on hand ![]() doing well too ![]() Karen |

Young man about 50 ended up in the hospital for 3 months fighting a whopping systemic infection that ended up leaving him with all his teeth removed, meningitis, and in a coma for 10 days. Hearing loss from huge doses of antibiotics to save him, etc, etc, etc. Yah, don't be brave and think a bad tooth is strictly limited to the oral cavity. Hope I never see this again. Mark |

He kept his body clean but seldom brushed his teeth. Got sick and wasn't getting better and doctors found out he had a deep seated infection from his teeth. Put him on a regime of antibiotics, got him better, found a heart valve was malfunctioning, went in and corrected that and a year later he went in hospital to have an aneurism corrected. When they cracked his chest again the artery with the aneurism blew out for about ten inches and he bled to death in less than 10 seconds. Forty-six years old and he was gone, leaving two kids and four grandkids, not to mention his lady friend and the rest of us. All because he didn't take care of his teeth. My first cousin, his mother, lost two of her three children as her only daughter had died in a car wreck with her child and husband. The oldest child, 9 months younger than me, is all that's left.
