Default pickled egg

I was cleaning the dark lower recesses of my fridge today (eek!) and found a
jar of pickled mixed veggies with a boiled egg.

I know I would have used the recipe from BBB for the veggies and then
dropped the egg into the partially used jar. The brine is to the top so I
probably topped it with white vinegar after some of the veggies were eaten.

I'm sure this has been in there no longer than last summer. but I'm also
sure it has been in there that long.

Is this safe or compost?

thanks-
Deb

I'd think that if the original recipe was BBB, AND it's not been sealed
(i.e., not anerobic) AND you added vinegar there's no worry about botulism.

I think if it's not moldy or otherwise showing signs of spoilage it's
OK. The egg might be quite .... tangy ... and the texture may be
<diplomatic> more ... solid </diplomatic> than you're used to, but it
should be fine. I pickle eggs for my New Year's Eve's Day open house
and they're still good by the time they've been totally used up in May
or so.
