Default Recipe for making hotdogs?

I'm trying to find a good recipe for making hotdogs. The web seems to
be awash in sausage recipes except for the lowly hotdog. Does anyone
have a good one they would like to share?

This looks close. Leave out the pickles and pimentos, maybe add a
little crushed ice when you grind it. The spices look about right, but
I might use marjoram and some white pepper instead of ginger.

The mix should look about like bubble gum after you grind it. Stuff
into lamb casings instead of 6" rounds.

Where do you buy the beef lips, ears, etc. to make the hotdogs? Just
kidding folks, old wives tale says hot dogs are made from the leftovers
at the processing plant. <BSEG>

George, off to prune the hell out of the overgrown peach tree

The ones I buy are all beef, package doesn't say which part of the beef
it is though. Read a regular hot dog package, doesn't say noses and
tails, says beef, chicken, pork, etc. AKA floor sweepings at the abbatoir.

It's about 62F out right now with lots of sunshine. Yesterday it got
into the low seventies and the sun was out all day for a change. We
don't get the snow you do Pat but we had about 14 inches of rain in the
last two weeks, regard it as melted snow.

I've already pruned the pluot and the plum trees and still have the
peach and two kumquot trees to go. Have to look up and see what I need
to do to improve the Japanese persimmon. Also need to find some stuff to
spray on the citrus trees to kill the citrus rust that is plaguing them
and then do the dormant oil spray on the other trees. With not much
freezing weather we have lots of bugs.

I heard about the sausage maker that fell into the machine. He got a
little behind in his work.

Since the recipe had already salt, spices, etc., I thought maybe the 1/2
pound of hot dog seasoning was the lips, eye balls, and ears concentrate.

Best regards,
Bob, wishin' I had an overgrown peach tree to prune

Nope. The reason we make our own franks is so we don't have to eat that
stuff. If you want to eat lips buy your franks at the local supermarket.

Having raised those nasty birds at one time I know how hard it is to
find chicken lips. B-)

When I was a wee lad in the Boy Scouts we used to sing a song about
"Johnny Rebec". One verse was were all the cats and dogs had gone and
the next line was to Johnny Rebec's sausage machine.

There you go. I was amazed I could remember any of it since the last
time I heard it was 50 years ago.

I just stumbled onto a University of Wisconsin web site that has very
good looking sausage recipes, including one for wieners.

Hope this helps, :-)
