Default Plum jam and plum sauce

Using my new Ball Home canning book I put up 6 12 ounce jars of plum jam
this morning. Later today I will "jar" up some plum sauce from the same
book. Had to go to the store and get a hand of ginger for that.

Local market had small California red and black plums on sale for ten
for a dollar. Ending up buying 80 of them, most for jam and sauce but
many for eating. !@#$%^ squirrels got every plum, peach, persimmon, and
most of the pears before any of them could ripen. Why can't they just
eat the hot peppers, I've got plenty of those.

Is putting nets over those fruit trees a viable option or do the squirrels
simply laff at such a protective measure...???

I imagine they'd just chew through any netting...

Don't know yet, just ordered bird nets for four trees and 6 blueberry
plants. Will let you know next year. Only thing that is setting fruit at
the moment is the Ponderosa lemon and the two kumquats. Birds and
squirrels don't seem to like citrus.
