Tres Leches Cake
1 box Duncan Hines butter recipe cake mix 1 can sweetened condensed milk 1 can sweetened coconut cream (Coco Lopez) found in liquor dept. whipped cream or Cool Whip walnuts or pecans, chopped Bake the cake according to the directions on the box using the ingredients called for. You can make this in any style--either two layer cake or in a 9 x 13 pan. I make it in the flat pan. As soon as the cake is done, remove it from the oven and while it is hot, poke holes about 1/4 inch thick all over the cake. I use the end of a wooden spoon. Pour a thin stream of the sweetened condensed milk and the coconut cream evenly over the cake. I find it is easier to pour the milk if it has been warmed a little so I put the can in a sink of hot water while the cake is cooking. When the cake is done the milk will flow out easily in a thin stream rather than thick globs. Put the cake in the refrigerator for several hours or even overnight. You can remove the cake from the pan or leave it in. Frost with Cool Whip and sprinkle to top[ with the chopped nuts. This is so wonderful.. -- Rec.food.recipes is moderated by Patricia Hill at .
