Default German Butter Cookies

I am looking for a sugar cookie that uses powered sugar instead of flour


As a child I loved a particular sugar cookie recipe my mother made, but in
later years she couldn't remember which one she had used! After I was
married I tried many recipes to get the taste I remembered, and finally
found this one! The difference, I believe, is that it uses powdered
sugar!

German Butter Cookies

Cream:
125 gr. powdered sugar (1 1/4 cup )
250 gr. butter (2 cubes plus 2 T.)
Add:
1 lg. egg yolk
1 lg. pinch salt
375 gr. flour (2 3/4 cup )

Chill 2 hours, or 15 min. in freezer. Roll thin and cut. Bake 375 , for
8-10 min. Or can roll in balls, roll in sugar, and stamp with a cookie
stamp. Ice and decorate.

Variations using this recipe:

Butterherzen ("Butter Hearts")
Cut cookies with fluted heart cutter. Spread half of each heart with
melted
chocolate.

Halbmonde
("Half Moons" or "Cescents")
Cut cookies with crescent shaped cutter. Use Nutella spread to sandwich
cookies together. Dip tip of each cookie in melted chocolate.

Holly Leaves
Cut cookies with holly leaf cutter. Spread cookies with green icing, and
place red M&M's at stem for holly berries.
