This is from my mothers recipes, and I believe it was from the Bakers
chocolate chips Grandma's Chocolate Chip Cookies 1/2 cup of shortening 1/2 cup sugar 1/4 cup brown sugar 1 egg well beaten 1 cup sifted flour 1/2 tsp salt 1/2 tsp. baking soda 1-7 oz bag chocolate chips 1/2 cup coconut 1 tsp vanilla Cream shortening, add sugars gradually, and beat together till light and fluffy. Add egg and mix thoroughly. Sift flour once, measure, add salt and soda, sift again. Add flour in two parts, and mix well. Add chocolate chips, coconut and vanilla and mix well. Drop from teaspoon on greased baking sheep 2 inches apart. Bake in moderate oven (375) for 10 to 12 minutes. Makes about 50 cookies. -- Rec.food.recipes is moderated by Patricia Hill at .
