I'm looking for a recipe for Wedding Ring pickles

My maternal grandmother, who was an immigrant from Norway and settled
in the US upper midwest, made these, but it appears the recipe was
never passed on. They looked like very very thick pickle wedges with
the middle removed, so they were shaped like a ring (more like a
washer or nut, really) -- hence the name. It's been years since I've
seen them, but from my memory as a child, they were also a very dark
green -- not sure if it was just food coloring of if the almost jade
color the whole way through the pickle was a result of some part of
the canning process.

I'm betting there are other grandmothers out there of Scandinavian
descent that know exactly what I'm talking about, and I'm hoping a
request from you could get one or more of them to share their recipe
for wedding ring pickles.
