French Toast
This is for one person. Just scale it up accordingly. 1 egg 1 Tbsp cream (light or heavy or even 1/2 & 1/2) dash of cinnamon dash of nutmeg dash of salt couple of drops vanilla extract 1 tsp flour 2 slices whole grain white bread Butter or oil In a large bowl, beat the egg, and beat in everything else with your fork or whisk. Soak up the mixture with the 2 slices of bread. Heat your non-stick pan or skillet to med-high, and add your favorite fat to the skillet. That means a bit of butter, or oil, to the pan. Drop in both pieces of toast, and cook about 1.5-2 minutes on each side, or until golden brown. Transfer to plate, sprinkle with powdered sugar (optional), drop on your syrup, and enjoy! Some Optional Garnishes: - whipped cream - apple slices, bannana, strawberries, peaches, etc... - fresh or canned - jam or jelly - pecans (toasted or raw) -- Rec.food.recipes is moderated by Patricia D.
