Default Great Grandma Hornsby's York Cookies

Great Grandma Hornsby's York Cookies

Delicate white cookie squares with a hint of nutmeg, giving it the
taste of egg nog.

1/2 cup Butter only!
1/2 cup Sugar
1 cup Flour
1 Egg
1 tablespoon Milk
1/2 teaspoon Baking soda
1/4 teaspoon Nutmeg
1 tablespoon Lemon Juice OR Orange Juice

Preheat oven to 375*.
Mix the butter and sugar until it becomes creamy and light. Gradually
add the flour until well mixed. In a seperate cup, beat the egg and
the milk together. Add the milk / egg mixture to the flour
ingredients. Mix again. Add the remaining ingredients.
Spray a cookie sheet with Baker's Joy or another type of no stick
product. Spread the dough thin so it is about 1/4 of an inch thick.
The best way to do this is pretend you are frosting a cake.
Once the dough has been spread, sprinkle with sugar, and bake until it
is a golden brown.
Cut into squares and serve with coffee, tea, or milk.

Yields: 2 Dozen
Cuisine: English
