Muesli
AICR Muesli is a great-tasting Swiss contribution to your "grains for breakfast" repertoire. It is easy to prepare following the recipe below. For an extra nutrition and energy boost, top it with sliced fresh fruit, like peach, pear, strawberries, banana or seedless grapes. 1 cup rolled oats (not quick-cooking or instant) 1/4 cup toasted wheat germ 1 Tbsp chopped hazelnuts or almonds 1 tsp unhulled sesame seeds 4 dried white figs, chopped (2 1/2 oz.) 6 dried apricots halves, chopped 1/2 apple, cored but not peeled Pinch of salt 1 cup fat-free vanilla yogurt In a medium bowl, combine oats, wheat germ, hazelnuts or almonds, sesame seeds, figs and apricots. (This can be done the night before and set aside, covered with plastic wrap.) About 15 to 30 minutes before serving, chop apple, or shred it, and mix into oats mixture. Add salt and yogurt and set aside until oats are soft, 15 to 20 minutes. Divide the muesli among three bowls and serve. Makes 3 servings -- Rec.food.recipes is moderated by Patricia D. Hill at .
