Italian Salad Dressing Seasoning

16 servings

Have this herby mix on hand to whip up a quick homemade salad dressing,
or package in an attractive container as a thoughtful gift for that
dieter, vegetarian or Italian food fan (or anyone who likes a nice,
homemade touch).

1 tablespoon garlic salt
1 tablespoon onion powder
1 tablespoon white sugar
2 tablespoons dried oregano
1 tablespoon dried parsley
1 1/2 teaspoons dried basil
1 teaspoon black pepper
1/4 teaspoon dried thyme
1/4 teaspoon celery seeds
2 tablespoons salt (or to taste)

Mix together ingredients and store in a tightly sealed container.
To prepare dressing, whisk together 4 Tbsp. red or white wine vinegar,
2/3 cup olive oil, 2 Tbsp. water, and 2 Tbsp. of the dry mix.

Mix, Italian Dressing, Bulk

1/2 cup garlic powder
1/2 cup onion powder
1/2 cup sugar
1 cup dried oregano
1/2 cup pepper
1 teaspoon dried thyme
4 teaspoons dried basil
1/2 cup dried parsley
2 teaspoons mustard powder
2 teaspoons celery seed
1/2 cup paprika
1 teaspoon dill weed

To include salt add:
1/4 cup salt
2-1/2 tablespoons pareve chicken soup powder

Combine 2 tablespoons mix with 1/4 cup vinegar, 2/3 cup oil, 2
tablespoons water. Shake vigorously. Makes one cup dressing.

Poster's Notes:
1. I made a lot of these, layering the spices in different colors for a
spice sculpture, and gave as gifts last December. As I looked at the
recipes again, saw the call for making salt-free Pesach recipes, I put
2+2 together and decided to share these with the list.

2. Any ingredient (like mustard) that does not fit in someone's Pesach
kitchen can easily be omitted.

3. Variations: add a tablespoon ketchup, any additional herbs of
interest, etc.

4. Can be made either salt-free or with salt.
