Golden Rice
The turmeric in this dish not only gives the rice an exotic flavor but a golden color as well. Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method -------- ------------ -------------------------------- 4 ounces white pearl onions 8 ounces frozen green peas 3 cups rice, cooked 1 tablespoon vegetable oil 1 teaspoon turmeric 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger 1 teaspoon seasoned salt 1/4 teaspoon seasoned pepper 2 teaspoons lemon juice Heat oil in a frying pan. Add turmeric and ginger and cook for a few seconds or until you can smell the toasted turmeric. Add onions and stir to coat. Cook for about three minutes. Add the peas, salt, pepper and lemon juice. Stir to coat. Cover and cook for about eight minutes or until tender. Stir occasionally. Add rice and stir to mix thoroughly. Heat through. Per Serving (excluding unknown items): 395 Calories; 3g Fat (7.2% calories from fat); 9g Protein; 81g Carbohydrate; 3g Dietary Fiber; 0mg Cholesterol; 320mg Sodium.
