Default Candied Nuts (3) Collection

Cinnamon Nuts
Honey Candied Walnuts
Novel Nuts

In response to a recent request for candied nuts.

Cinnamon Nuts

1 cup sugar
1/4 cup boiling water
1/8 tsp. cream of tartar
1 lb. walnuts pieces
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. vanilla

Bring sugar, water, cream of tartar and cinnamon to a full boil.
Add vanilla. Empty 1 lb. of walnut pieces in mixture; stir to coat.
put on wax paper to dry or in 200 oven.

Honey Candied Walnuts

1 1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/4 tsp. salt
1/4 cup honey
1/2 cup water
1/2 tsp. vanilla
3 cup walnut halves

Boil together first 4 ingredients, stirring often to 242 degrees or firm
soft ball stage. Remove from heat. Add last 1/2 teaspoon vanilla, 3 cups
walnut halves. Stir until creamy, then turn out on waxed paper and
separate walnuts. Use a big pan. May use 3 1/2 cups walnuts, but any
more will not coat well.


Novel Nuts (Giftable!)

1 lb. large pecan halves
1 egg white
1 tsp. cold water
1/2 cup sugar
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
sprinkle fresh ground nutmeg

Beat egg white and water until frothy. Add pecans and mix until well
coated. Combine sugar, salt, cinnamon and nutmeg. Add to pecan mixture.
Bake 1 hour at 225 F. on buttered cookie sheet, stirring every 15 minutes.
These keep well in a covered container and make a lovely hostess gift.
