SOUR CHERRY CAKE
Yield: 9 servings Source: "500 Treasured Country Recipes" by Martha Storey Book Info: http://tgcmagazine.com/bin/tra*ck/click.cgi?id=128 INGREDIENTS - 1/2 cup (1 stick) butter - 1 cup granulated sugar - 2 eggs - 1-1/4 cups flour - 2 teaspoons baking powder - 1/2 teaspoon salt - 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon - 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg - 1/2 teaspoon baking soda - 1/2 cup milk - 2 cups sour cherries, pitted - Confectioners' sugar DIRECTIONS Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease a 9-inch square pan. Cream together the butter and sugar until light. Beat in the eggs, one at a time. Combine the flour, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, and soda. Add alternately with the milk to the butter mixture. Stir until smooth and creamy. Fold in the cherries. Pour batter into the pan.
