Oven Baked Barbecued Brisket
1 cup bottled barbecue sauce (or use your own) 1/2 cup water 1/2 cup chopped onion 1/4 cup liquid smoke 1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce 1 tablespoon garlic powder 2 tsp. celery salt 2 teaspoons lemon pepper 1 teaspoon salt 1/4 tsp. paprika 1/4 tsp. chili powder 4-6 pound beef brisket, well-trimmed In the bottom of a large baking dish (I use a dutch oven), put in all of the ingredients except the brisket and stir. Add the brisket, fatty side up. Cover with an ovenproof lid and bake at 300 degrees for 5-6 hours or until tender. Wonderful when served with mashed potatoes and a side salad. |
