Orange Cookies

My favorite cookie recipe was one of my mother’s favorites. Here it
is.

Ingredients:

3 and 1/2 c. flour
1 and 1/2 c. brown sugar
3 tsp. baking powder
Grated rind of 1 orange
1/4 tsp. salt (optional)
2 eggs
1 c. margarine or butter
1c. Sour milk
1 tsp. baking soda

Icing:

The juice of 1 large orange
Powdered sugar
Butter

Directions:

Cream the margarine; add the sugar and eggs, milk, dry ingredients and
orange rind. Drop in small amounts on a cookie sheet. Bake in
350-degree oven for 12 minutes. While cookies are cooling make icing.
Mix juice of 1 large orange, powered sugar and butter. Mix all
together until smooth and ice tops of cookies.
